FITTED | Catriona Smart

In our latest edition of FITTED, we were visited by Catriona Smart, founder of popular lifestyle blog Coco & Cowe and business owner of Coco & Cowe Confectionary and The White House Inc. A devoted lover of fashion both in her professional and social life, Catriona was excited to stop by and check out some of our newest jeans for the season. We also asked her about her beginnings as a lifestyle blogger and enlightened us on her personal taste in fashion!

Q: What influenced you to start your own lifestyle blog? How do you feel blogs in general have changed over the years?
I started a blog because I was contributing to another blog and fell in love with the process. I really loved sharing all of my finds, reviews and recipes and creating a community online. Because I started my blog so many years ago a lot has changed. Blogging went from a hobby for many to a full fledged industry creating Social Media stars who are now responsible for selling incredible amount of product for big businesses

Q: What is your favourite social media platform to post on and why?
Instagram for sure. It’s visual with room for text so almost like a micro blog. I get so much inspiration from other people’s travel, food, fashion and opinion posts that it’s my go-to.

Q: Aside from running Coco & Cowe, you’re also a businesswomen and dedicated mom. How do you maintain balance between work and life?
To be honest, there isn’t much balance. When you’re a creative your mind is always working so there isn’t much of delineation between work and life – it’s all one and I’m ok with that. That’s not to say that I don’t have as much down time with my daughter as I can, I just get a ton of inspiration from her too so my wheels are always turning.

Q: How would you describe your personal clothing style?
All over the map. I dress to my mood and like to try new things.

Q: What is the one “must have” piece in your wardrobe?
I love my Stuart Weitzman over the knee boots. They’re so comfortable and chic. Also a cool pair of boyfriend jeans!

Q: What did you think of your one-on-one fitting at Over the Rainbow? How do you feel about the products & services we offer?
It was incredible! I don’t know why but I hate shopping for jeans and having a one-on-one fitting helped me feel way more comfortable. I was encouraged to try on a bunch of things I typically wouldn’t and I fell in love with a few that shocked me. Over The Rainbow has so much more than just denim (and there’s A LOT of denim) so it was cool to also be introduced to their tees, shoes and accessories.
